Biography

Makoto Takashima was appointed as President and CEO of SMBC in April 2017 after serving as Executive Officer, Managing Director, and Senior Managing Director/Member of the Management Committee over a span of eight years since April 2009. In April 2014, he was appointed Co-Head of the International Banking Unit and in December 2016, he took on the added responsibility of Director (Member of the Board) of SMBC. Mr. Takashima holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law, Kyoto University and a Master of Laws degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley.
