Biography

Hideki Murai, former Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Financial Services Agency, was elected to the House of Representatives for 3 consecutive terms as the representative of the 1st district of Saitama Prefecture, where he was born. Recently, he was appointed Acting Secretary-General, Research Commission on the Finance and Banking Systems of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), under which he serves as Chairperson on PT for Strengthening Management Capability of Regional Finance Institutions.

Murai is known as a leading policy expert among young politicians in LPD. He is currently 39 years old and a father of 3 children.

Finance has been empowering people who challenge for new endeavors. Data and digital technology is transforming core function of the finance. How should we design better and more inclusive finance catering for changing and varying needs? How data and digital technology can help its design? NEC will host a symposium “Future of Banking” to discuss these questions. The panelists for exciting discussion are; banking software company CEO from Nordic, University-student of a FinTech startup from Japan, former Chief Innovation Officer at DBS Bank and Group Innovation Head at AIA Company Limited, and member of the House of Representatives from Japan.
