Mai Santamaria heads up the Financial Advisory team in the Department of Finance, Ireland. She is responsible for research into topics of interest in the Financial Services sector.
She co-authored the Department’s discussion paper on Virtual Currencies and Blockchain, published in March of 2018. She leads the internal Working Group set up to monitor developments in emerging technologies.
Mai has more than 20 years experience in the finance private sector, having worked with Barclays, Zurich, Rothchild, GE and PwC. She is a fellow of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants and a native of Barcelona, Spain.
