David is a Japanese citizen born in Osaka, of Chinese descent. He serves as the Chairman of 51job (Nasdaq: JOBS), the largest HR advertising company in China. He is also responsible for the investments in 99Bill (Wanda Group), All About Japan, Inc. (JASDAQ: 2454), Careem, Eaze, Figure, Fortinet (Nasdaq: FTNT), Kabu.com (TSE: 8703), Plenty, Musical.ly(TikTok), Recourse Technologies (Symantec), Sling Media (EchoStar/Dish Networks), SMIC (NYSE: SMI), SoFi, StarFlyer(TSEL 9206), Uber (Careem), UCloud, and eDreams (ODIGEO) among others. He has been listed as one of the top venture capitalists by Forbes Magazine since 2004 and was named to the Forbes Midas List Hall of Fame in 2016. Previously, he co-founded Japan Communications Inc(Nasdaq Japan-Hercules: 9424), an MVNO, and served as CFO and CTO. Prior, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Co.; managed marketing and startup investments at Apple Computer; and worked as an account executive at Recruit.
