He joined Nikkei in 1979. After working as a staff writer in the Industrial News Department, the Kobe Bureau, the Capital Market and Corporate News Department, and the Washington D.C. Bureau in the United States, he became a senior position in 1997 specialized in the capital market. From 2000 to 2003, he worked as Senior Economist at Japan Center for Economic Research. He is a writer of periodical column on Nikkei Electronic Edition and on Nikkei Veritas news-magazine.
