Minister Michael D'Arcy is currently Minister with special responsibility for Financial Services and Insurance at the Department of Finance, Government of Ireland, since his appointment in June 2017.
Prior to this appointment, Minister D'Arcy was a member of the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry Committee, colloquially known as the Banking Inquiry. This was formally established in November 2014. The purpose of the Inquiry was to inquire into the reasons Ireland experienced a systemic banking crisis, including the political, economic, social, cultural, financial and behavioural factors and policies which impacted on or contributed to the crisis and the preventative reforms implemented.
