Hirotaka Nakajima

Biography

Hirotaka is a senior researcher in R4D at Mercari, Inc. specializing in trust and privacy on the internet and network operation. Prior to his current position, he worked on standardization of HTML5 and HTTP/2 at W3C and IETF as an assistant professor at Keio University. He serves concurrently as a senior researcher at Keio Research Institute at SFC, one of the Japanese delegates to ISO TC307 (Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies), a member of Cryptoassets Governance Task Force, a member of the technical committee at Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association, and a partner of Kamoike.net LLP.

Description

Crypt-asset exchanges are suffering from incessant hacks, losing a decent amount of crypto-assets of their customers. While it is imperative to enhance the security of the system as a whole, including functions outside of the blockchain, now is the time to learn a lesson from past incidents and to find out the root cause of the issue. Where does the risk lie? What countermeasures should we take? Experts in both theory and practice who have been involved in the international standardization of the exchange security for more than one and a half years will present a prescription to improve the trust in the ecosystem.
